On October 20th, we had the pleasure of welcoming students and teachers from Jingmei Girls’ High School (Taipei, Taiwan) to KIHS as part of our ongoing cultural exchange program. This was a continuation of the wonderful visit we made to their school on August 20th, where we participated in a school tour, group activities, and explored the city of Taipei together. This time, it was our turn to host—and we were thrilled to share our school, culture, and local sights here in Tennoji.

2025年10月20日、文化交流プログラムとして、台湾の台北市景美女子高級中学（以下、景美女子）の生徒及び教員の方がKIHSに来校されました。我々も今年度の台湾研修旅行中の8月20日に景美女子を訪問し交流し、その時には景美女子と本校の生徒は共に校内見学やグループに分かれて台北市内の散策を行いました。
今回は、本校がホスト役として、天王寺にある学校の校舎や文化、地域の観光スポットを紹介しました。

The day began at 9:00 AM with an opening ceremony at KIHS. Mr. Araki, who serves as the bridge between our two schools, started things off with a warm welcome. This was followed by a heartfelt speech from our Principal, Mr.Hanabata, and a kind greeting from Jingmei’s teacher, Ms.Fanglan. To mark the occasion, small gifts were exchanged between the teachers of both schools—a lovely gesture symbolizing friendship and goodwill.

午前9時、KIHSでの開会式で一日が始まりました。このプログラムの本校側の担当である私、荒木からの歓迎のあいさつを行った後、本校の花畑校長からのスピーチ、景美女子のFanglan先生からの心のこもったご挨拶をいただきました。その後両校が準備したプレゼント交換を行い、友好が深まる交流となりました。

After the ceremony, the Jingmei students joined our first-year students for English 1 class. Everyone was divided into six mixed groups and took part in a fun, interactive activity using a “Speed Friending Worksheet” designed to help them get to know one another better. It was heartwarming to see students from different cultures connecting so naturally.

開会式の後、景美女子の生徒たちは本校１年の生徒と共に英語の授業に参加しました。6つのグループに分かれ「スピードフレンドワークシート」を用いた交流活動を通じて、お互いを知ることができ、異なる文化を持った生徒たちが英語を用いて、スムーズに交流できる姿を見て、私は感動しました。

During the 2nd to 4th periods, Jingmei students were paired with KIHS students in a 2:1 buddy system and attended various classes. This provided them with a chance to experience everyday school life at KIHS and form deeper connections with their buddies.

2限目～4限目は、景美女子の生徒１人に対し、本校生徒２名のチームを組んで、本校の授業を一緒に受けました。これにより、景美女子の生徒は、本校の学校生活を体験し、かつチーム内での絆を深める機会を作ることができました。

In the afternoon, everyone took part in the Paper Tower Challenge—a creative and competitive activity where groups were challenged to build the tallest freestanding tower using only tape, scissors, glue sticks, and 10 sheets of A4 paper. The 20-minute time limit added to the excitement, and every group worked with impressive focus and teamwork.
Afterward, KIHS students put on a performance, showcasing their talents through song and dance. Not to be outdone, the Jingmei students also shared a dance, introduced a game, and even invited us to sing along with them in a final performance. The auditorium was filled with laughter, clapping, and lots of memorable moments.

午後は景美女子の生徒と本校１年生の生徒全員で「ペーパータワーチャレンジ」に挑戦。紙10枚をテープ、ハサミ、のりを使って、倒れない最も高い塔を作る、創造力と駆け引きが必要なミッションです。わずか20分の制限時間で白熱したものとなり、どのグループも集中力とチームワークで高いレベルとなりました。その後、本校の生徒たちが歌やダンスのパフォーマンスを披露したと思えば、これに負けじと景美女子の生徒たちもダンスやゲームを披露し、最後のパフォーマンスでは私たちも誘って一緒に歌いました。教室は、笑い声、拍手、そして記憶に残る時間で満たされました。

To end the day, students were divided into groups and explored Tennoji, visiting local landmarks such as Abeno Harukas, Q’s Mall, and Tenshiba. It was a great opportunity for the Jingmei students to experience Japanese shopping culture and try local food.
As the day came to a close, we gathered to say our goodbyes and see them off to their bus. Although it was hard to part, we were filled with gratitude for the time we spent together and excited about the memories we created.

最後のイベントとして、両校の生徒たちは、グループに分かれて天王寺界隈を散策しました。あべのハルカス、キューズモール、天王寺駅など本校周辺の繁華街に行きました。景美女子の生徒たちにとって、日本のショッピングを体験したり、大阪の食べ物を味わうことができた良い機会になったと思います。日が暮れかかるころにお別れの時となり、景美女子が乗るバスの前で、両校の生徒が別れを惜しみました。それぞれの街で、互いに交流できた時間と思い出を胸に刻むことができたと思います。

This cultural exchange was more than just a day of activities—it was a bridge between two cultures, a chance to foster international friendships, and a valuable learning experience for everyone involved. We look forward to future exchanges and continuing to grow our connection with Jingmei Girls’ High School.

今回の文化交流は、単なる一日の交流ではなく、二つの文化をつなぐ架け橋となり、また国際的な友情を育むことができる機会となったことは、参加者全員にとって、貴重な学びの経験となりました。
今後も交流を続け、景美女子との絆を深めていくことができればと願っています。
